Wright Hip Recall

RX Drug Liability Information

Wright Hip – Profemur┬« Total Hip System

The Wright Profemur Total Hip System includes the Conserve Plus Cup, the Conserve Total Femoral Head, the Wright Modular Femoral Neck, and the Profemur E Cementless Stem. The Wright Profemur Total Hip System should provide surgeons with a modular approach to total hip arthroplasty. This means the neck of the implant is modular, and can be adjusted for length, which should aid in matching implants to host bone, and allow soft tissue balancing and restoration of the hip joint center of rotation.

Unfortunately, data collected and published in a 2009 annual report of the Australian registry shows that the Profemur Total Hip System had a failure rate of 11.2% at three years. This means that approximately 1 out of every 9 people who received the Wright Profemur hip experienced severe hip replacement problems within a few years after their surgery. These hip implants have been sold since at least 2005, and the company is still distributing the products.

Wright Hip Failure Symptoms

Wright hip implant failure symptoms include:

  • Difficulty standing or walking
  • Severe pain in the hip, thigh, groin or lower back
  • Stiffness and difficulty performing normal activities

How Do I Find Out If I Have A Wright Hip?

The hip implants in question have been produced and sold since 2005, and are still on the market. If you have had hip replacement surgery at any time since 2005, and are now experiencing hip replacement problems, contact your orthopedic surgeon or the hospital where you had your surgery to find out whether you have one of the implants in question. Although a hip replacement recall is not currently underway for these implants, you are still entitled to this information.

In order to protect your privacy, you may be asked to request this information in person.

If I have a Wright Hip, What Do I Do Next?

You may be entitled to significant compensation if you are in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, or anywhere in the state of Oklahoma, and are experiencing hip replacement problems caused by one of these implants, despite the fact that the company has not recently issued a hip recall. Contact a hip implant recall attorney immediately for a free consultation via our contact form, or call us toll free at (877) 917-5250.
