Chouteau, OK (May 17, 2019) – Around 6:30 a.m. on May 17, police and emergency crews responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident along Highway 69.
According to reports, Hervia Roberts was driving south along Highway 69 when he fell asleep behind the wheel. As a result, his Ford Flex ran off the road and hit a culvert.
Three individuals inside the vehicles, including 65-year-old Rita Simmons, were injured in the collision. Simmons was transported to Pryor Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. The two other women injured in the collision are expected to make a full recovery.
